Environment: At Casa Flor de Sal, we do our best to limit our environmental impact.
- Our water is solar heated, and with the many hours of sunshine we only use very little electricity to ensure you can have a warm shower;
- Heating in the winter is by the air conditioners, which are more than twice as efficient as a regular electric radiator;
- To conserve energy, towels and bed linen are changed every 3-4 days or when you ask us;
- Bed linen and other clothes are dried in the fresh air, which apart from the saved energy, has the benefit of making the linen last longer and giving it that wonderful fresh smell;
- We support car-less holidays here, helping with practicalities;
- We recycle as much as possible and our cleaners will go and get your rubbish daily so that we ensure everything that can is recycled;
- The lawns are artificial recycled grass so don´t need neither water nor spraying with insecticides;
- Part of the garden is planted with salt-tolerant species, which allows us to use our slightly salty well water for watering. Additionally, whenever possible we use biological products to treat our plants and trees.
- The natural swimming lake has become a local refuge for wildlife: here you will be able to see damselflies, dragonflies, butterflies, birds, aquatic insects, fish, frogs and bats drinking at dusk.
- Our vegetable garden is 100% organic;
- About half the property is left untended, to the benefit of the wildlife, and we support RIAS;
- We employ and link up with local people, benefiting the economy of the area.
